About the Home

The Home of Comfort Nursing Home, originally founded in 1896 by Mother Emma, the Head Deaconess of the Winchester Diocese, is non-profit making and is a registered charity.

Originally opened with just 12 residents, the Home now offers care to 29 older people with Nursing needs, both long term and palliative. We also offer respite care when we have space available.

The Home is located in a quiet area of Southsea, Portsmouth, but is close to local shops and amenities and within walking distance to the sea front.

We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality care to all of our residents. The Home has staff on duty - including Nursing staff - around the clock, in a secure, open and friendly atmosphere, where the residents' welfare and happiness are of paramount importance.

All of our residents are encouraged to take part in our program of activities, and to consider this their Home from the day that they move in. We welcome visitors, and for a small charge a meal and/or accommodation can be arranged.
