About The Home of Comfort Nursing Home

Our History and Mission

The Home of Comfort Nursing Home, a non-profit and registered charity, was originally founded in 1896 by Mother Emma, the Head Deaconess of the Winchester Diocese. What began as a humble home for 12 residents has grown into a haven offering exceptional care to 29 older people with nursing needs, both long-term and palliative. We also provide respite care when space is available.

Our Location

Nestled in a tranquil area of Southsea, Portsmouth, our Home is conveniently located near local shops and amenities, and just a short walk from the picturesque sea front. This ideal location allows our residents to enjoy the best of both worlds - a peaceful environment and easy access to the vibrant community.

Our Commitment to Quality Care

At The Home of Comfort Nursing Home, we take immense pride in providing the highest quality care to all of our residents. Our dedicated staff, including skilled nursing professionals, are on duty around the clock to ensure a secure, open, and friendly atmosphere where the welfare and happiness of our residents are of paramount importance.

Engaging Activities and a Welcoming Environment

We encourage all of our residents to participate in our diverse program of activities, designed to enrich their daily lives and foster a sense of community. From the moment they move in, we want our residents to consider this their home. We also extend a warm welcome to visitors and, for a small charge, can arrange meals and accommodation for those who wish to spend more time with their loved ones.
